This program provides a structured routine that focuses on academic development, independent thinking and problem solving. It is perfect for the child that does not qualify for his or her school's enrollment age or for the child that needs an extra year to develop and mature.
This program focuses on letter and letter-sound recognition. Patterning, sequencing, graphing, counting by 2's, 5's, 10's, and coin recognition are also introduced. Pre-reading skills such as the recognition of word beginning and ending sounds, sight word recognition, chunking, predicting, picture clues, the retelling of events, and basic comprehension are emphasized.
The further development of listening skills, problem solving skills and social skills are also a focus of the curriculum. Learning centers allow teachers to focus on the individual educational progress of each child.
Creative development is encouraged during craft time as well as with the use of pretend play. Fine motor skills are developed through the use of crayons, scissors, pencils and small manipulatives. Literature is incorporated into the daily routine as a learning tool to further refine language development. This also serves to introduce children to various literary styles and the world at large.
This program aims to develop all the necessary skills to prepare children for the kindergarten experience.
Class consists of 12 students and 2 teachers and is a 5 day program.
Current school schedule is Monday through Friday 9:00-11:30 AM.
